We provide grant funding for local organisations prepared to shake up the status quo and disrupt the structural forces that dictate how coffee is traded.
We’re working towards an equitable coffee industry, where both producers and consumers benefit from a fairer and more transparent supply chain, acknowledging the human involvement in every cup.
Why we do it
125 million people, just over 1% of the world’s population, rely on coffee for their livelihood. Yet the coffee industry is unsustainable and unfair. From structural and systemic imbalances perpetuating cycles of poverty for farmers and exploitation of vulnerable hospitality workers to the existential threat of climate change, the cost is carried by the people who can least afford it.
Drawing on experts and leaders from coffee, not-for-profit and international development, The Cup That Counts identifies high-impact projects that support people and communities throughout the supply chain.
